lunch cost me $25.00

But I’m as happy as a “road tripper” can be with all my “ stuff” that I came home with!!

I tell you, we just had the best-est time today..

But it was a “ mite “ long….LOL

Too tired to take pictures of my “ stuff'”

but if I recouperate tomorrow, I’ll take some..

I ordered a Maureen Mills pattern tonight.

Gotta get to sewing for these shows coming up.

We have two scheduled so far…

I’m making a bunny pattern I bought last year.

He’s “HARVEST HARVEY”

He’s a mite hard to make but I’ll get him done… you betcha !!

I can do it…

ROAD–TRIP TO INDIANA

We had been planning a road-trip to Indiana/South Bend/Granger/points farther East

well this morning someone came into my bedroom as my eyes first opened and

said in this excited voice… “ Are you ready for our trip?”

Barely awake but ready to go… I say “ SURE !!”

She says” it’s a pretty day, sun shining and not snowing “

So I hop out of bed, plug the coffee pot, take a quick shower and get dressed.

After putting one “day old” biscuit in micro-wave and smear on some butter and grab

a cup of coffee….I plugged my curling iron and make myself beautiful…

and here we go…

“Yes, it’s a beautiful day for hitting the Thrift Shops & Goodwill Stores “

Net says we’ll head for the farthrest one first and work our way back

( as the weather holds out )

So we did… off to Granger, Indiana and a huge Goodwill Store

Oh did we hit the jackpot !!

I bought two piece cannister set from Pfaltzgraff

another piece of bakeware

and ooh !! I almost forgot the most important thing !!

I got an almost new brown leather hobo purse !!

Oh was I excited !!

Net got some coke glasses for her son who saves them.

also a glass lamp globe and a neat baking dish with apples on it..

well , we headed back towards South Bend and it had begun to snow tiny flakes… oh no !!

well we were getting hungry and decided to stop and eat…

Where ??

Oh , there’s a Chili’s…. good enough !!

Oh did we get a feast… their proportions are … enough …to say the least !!

Then we stopped at another Goodwill and bought a few odds and ends !!

Beginning to snow more …. so home we go..

Got home, fed my birds, put away my stash for the day…

Happy as two “ road-trippers” could be..

So we later planned another trip, another day !!

so I’ll fill you in on that later…

I TOLD YOU, DIDN’T I??

well, we got what was promised to us!!

You bet, two days and nights of it !!

But it is soooooooo pretty.

my bird feeder and view from my front window..

I’ve found a place to buy what I call “ gormet” bird seeds.

But they are eating me out of house and home.. so

next time it’s gonna be cracked corn and generic seeds.. LOL

I’m slowly working on my website and making some

new dolls..

So maybe in a few weeks , it will look like a new site.

My sister called this morning and was telling us about

her experience of making candy, so we were hungry for

some divinity and fudge.

Ok we gather up all the ingredients ( run to the store

for white karo syrup).

Drag out the heavy duty mixer and so we get started.

While reading a cookbook and timing the syrup…

Yep !! I think it’s ready.. so I’m beating egg-whites..

and Net’s pouring the syrup .. and then comes the beating..

We beat, and we beat and it’s supposed to lose all the gloss.

then you spoon it onto waxed paper lined on a cookie sheet.

I think it’s supposed to stand at a peak when you get it on the sheet.

well, ours sorta “ squatted” … not a good peak !!

Now I ask you …does that look like divinity or eggs…?????

So Net gets this bright idea..

ok lets roll em in our hands and then roll them in shredded pecans….

what do ya’ think ?? awww I dunno’ but we can try it.

Mercy me !!

sooooooooooooo we roll and roll in pecans, between washing our hands ..

To make a horrible long story shorter…

Ok this is a trial and error time…

next time, we will cook longer and beat longer… ok??

I have a new website and I’m having trouble and I do mean trouble.

It’s my WINDOWS LIVE PHOTO GALLERY.

I can’t get them to load on my store manager for agoria.

Does anyone else have this program ( windows live photo gallery ) ?

We are having some nice weather for Michigan.

I went out to the shoppe today and checked out my dolls.

They were all there.. still…. where are the customers!!

NEW YEAR AND NEW DREAMS

With the beginning of a New Year, I want to express my gratitude

for the year past. I had some drastic changes in my life.

I’m thankful for God’s provisions and His guidance.

I had thought many times that I would make a move to Michigan

and live in our daughters downstairs apartment, but had not

made a definite decision to do so..

However as my health was getting unsafe to live alone, I

prayed about it and came to the decision to do so.

I called my daughter and told her about my decision and

she said “I’ll come get you”.

Little did I know she would literally come ( with a trailer) and move me..

But that’s exactly what she did. She had just bought a small trailer.

I put my house up for sale and in two weeks time, it sold, sold my car and

had a humongous yard sale and sold most of big furniture and was on

our way to Michigan..

So now I’m living back in Dowagiac, Michigan and I love it.

My apartment has a large picture window facing the south with a beautiful

creek and pine trees to enjoy.

Have reunited with a few of old friends from when we lived here 15 years ago.

My daughter has a gift shoppe and I have all my dolls in there.

So I just had a new website made and am working on revising it.

We had 16 people for dinner and sooooo much good food !!

I made a big ham with pineapple rings and brown sugar topping !!

Also made a chocolate cake for my Grandson… his favorite !!

RAIN, RAIN, GO AWAY… WE’RE TIRED OF THESE DREARY DAYS

Is everyone else getting lots of rain?

we’ve had it for several days, but can’t complain.

At least, no snow yet.. but hey! I’m getting’ ready.

Got me some fur-lined boots ordered and

yesterday Net and I went to South Bend and I

bought two pair of pants and some trouser socks.

So I’m ready !!

Haven’t been out to the Shoppe in a few days

but after Thanksgiving.. ( if we’re able ) we are

gonna stay open till Christmas.

We are having 17 people together for Thanksgiving Dinner.

Been long time since I’ve cooked a big Thanksgiving Dinner.

So I’m excited.

I bought some bird feed last week and Net bought me a

large bird feeder and Jer is gonna put it up on a post

tomorrow. I’ve had a few birds coming to this small one

since putting out the seeds

I’ll post some pictures when he gets it up.

Seems as if I’m out of touch with blogging

since I’ve moved to Michigan.

But I will soon, just wait and see !!

I finally unearthed my sewing machine. Oh yeah!

While in South Bend, we went to Hobby Lobby and

right across the highway is a “Joann’s Fabric”

but Net refused to take me over there.. The look

on her face told me “ You have tooooo much fabric and

you can’t go into Joann’s till you sew up some on hand” (sniff, sniff )

So what can I make that takes up a lot of fabric.

Oh, I know… I need a new LIBRARY TOTE since I left

all my totes in Missouri.

Got my last “ Secret Sister” gift ready to mail so

feelin’ good about that .

Remember when I said I’d have these made in a snap !!

Obviously, a snap is a heap o’ long time cause here’s what I have done.

Now that is embarrassing , so I’m gonna

go for now.. Maybe I’ll stitch up another one.

CLOUDY, RAINY, NO-FUN DAY

Howdy friends!!

This has been a dark, dreary day today.. So I stayed in and read most of the day.. Had a bad night last night with not much sleep , so just took it easy and relaxed.

What has everybody there been up to today?

Is it getting colder there?

Looks like snow here but I’m hopin’ not yet..

I’ve lost some of my dolls and Santas.. Where could they be? A few boxes in the furnace room but think they are mostly pictures.. oh well, they will surface some day. If not, I can always make more ( If I can find my sewing machine )

MOvin’ is for the young and restless… not for the aged..

Is everyone getting ready for Christmas? I’m not in the mood yet.. hey , we haven’t had Thanksgiving.

We are having a Family

Get-together at Thanksgiving this year..

There will be Deb , John, Josh and Hannah and their two animals ( Sugar Gliders ). Melissa and Juliana and their two dogs, Michael and Harper and Lainie and Net, Jer and Me.

We may have to use my house and theirs and we may have a few “ Baptists Palletts “ and blow-up beds and sleeping bags. but we’ll have fun and take lots of pictures.

NO SNOW.. NO WAY NO HOW !!

Yeah! I know I’ve moved back to Michigan… but I ain’t ready for the blizzards .. like in the 80’s and 90’s.

Gimme’ a little fall .. and I don’t mean “ snow-fall “.

Hey, I’m havin’ such fun… put my dolls in the “ SHOPPE” . My daughter gave me a big corner of her shoppe and it’s gonna be “ THE PRIMITIVE CORNER” . Gonna have a sign over them and they are just lovin’ it… smiles all over their “prim faces’

I haven’t told you about all the fun Net and I are havin’. We ran upon the biggest best barn sale a week or so ago. I really made a haul. Bought a little green round iron table and two chairs.. they are out on my little back porch with the porch swing.

We had lunch out there one day. so warm and such pretty leaves on all the trees round the creek.. Even got me a “Woodie Woodchuck” going cross my back yard.. How cute is that !! No, I didn’t get his picture, yet… but just you wait!!

I’ll catch the little rascal yet.

Gotta start sewin’ … if and when I can find my sewing machine. Got a place all set up for it… if I ever get all the boxes unpacked… got my fabric packed away in an antique dresser bottom… so full I can hardly close the drawers.. and I haven’t even been to Hobby Lobby or Joanne’s Fabric yet..

Sold 13 totes of fabric before I left Missouri. LOL Got much more that I need to sell so I can go buy some new!! LOL !!

Hey I need to hear from some of you gals.. I’m way behind in the prim news since I had my computer down for several weeks,, but never fear!! It’s goin’ strong now..

“CONTINUED MOVE AND UNPACKING “

Will it ever end ??
It’s beginning to look “ homey” with my prim things on the walls.
I’ll send pictures some time soon. Well, I was using my handy “ slicer-dicer” slicin tomatoes yesterday and sliced the end of my middle finger.. and that’s my sewing finger, too… OH DEAR !!

I need to hear from some of you “Michiganders”.
Remember I lived her 40 years some time ago.. Haven’t met any of my old friends yet.. been too busy getting my place in shape.. it’s getting’ there !!

BEEN A LONG TIME

YES, I’VE MOVED… TO MICHIGAN, AGAIN !!

LISTED HOUSE FOR SALE ON H’VILLE CABLE STATION.

PEOPLE BEGAN COMING BY ASKING WHAT I WOULD BE SELLING.. GOT SOME INTEREST IN HOUSE AND TWO WEEKS LATER, HOUSE SOLD, FURNITURE MOSTLY ALL SOLD.

HAD A HUGE YARD SALE.. FIRST DAY DID REALLY GOOD BUT NEXT DAY WAS A DUDD !!

FINALLY GAVE REST OF YARD SALE TO A NEIGHBOR WHO HAS SALES OFTEN.

BY THE WAY, WE HAD OVERNIGHT COMPANY OF HELEN AND TERRY AND WE HAD NO PLACE FOR THEM TO SLEEP ….SO

WE HAD FUN….

PACKED TRAILER AND HEADED FOR MICHIGAN ON WEDNESDAY AT 12:30 IN THE MORNING.

MY DAUGHTER ( NET ) PULLED A SMALL TRAILLER DOWN ( FIRST TIME DRIVING WITH TRAILER ) AND MADE IT JUST FINE.. SO SHE ALSO DROVE IT BACK WITH IT LOADED , I MEAN LOADED.

WE COULD NOT HAVE GOT ANOTHER

PIECE OF PAPER IN THE TRAILER..

WE DROVE FOR ABOUT 15 HOURS AND GOT THERE SAFE AND SOUND.

CARPENTER AND PLUMBER WAS THERE WORKING . HAD LAID CARPET AND WAS WORKING ON BATHROOM …..

WELL I LOST SOME OF MY PICTURES BUT BELIEVE ME, THERE WAS NO WALLS, CEILING … OH ME, OH MY… WHERE WILL I BATHE?

OK THAT’S ANOTHER STORY !!

WHERE DO I START

it’s been a while since I spin a yarn with ya’ so I’m overdue..

you gonna get yore money’s worth with this one. fer shore !!

let’s see where I need to start..

ok , here we go !!

a week ago monday, I went to Kennett to get new drivers liscense.

Then went grocery shopping in a big way!! my word, did I buy out the store.

Was gonna go to another store, but after paying for my groceries,

Maurine says to herself, “

“self, you better not spend another dime” so on my way home.

I made it just fine and down main

street of Hornersville,

I turn right on George Street and went two blocks and all of a sudden !!

wham !! bang !! wham !!

I’m in orbit and I was going west when started spiining and

when I got stopped

I WAS GOING EAST in the

opposite directiion .. plus I

have a huge, ugly dent in mu

right back door at the back

frame… but I was not hurt.

scared but not hurt at all!!

OH MY GOODNESS !!

WHAT IN THE WORLD JUST HAPPENED ???

so we both get out of our cars and he said

“are you ok?”

“Yes, I’m o.k.!!”

YOu got a cell phone ?

Yes, I have a cell phone !

“well , call the police !!”

So he proceeds to call the police….. no one comes

a neighbor pulls out his cell phone and in just a minute , here comes our city officer.

The first words out of his mouth is

“she had the right of way”

The guy said he looked both ways and didn’t see any one… but he didn’t come to a stop and there

before his eyes was a big

STOP SIGN !!

SO WE GAVE OUT DRIVERS LISCENSE TO THE OFFICE.

“ MINE WAS BRAND NEW- NOT EVEN DRY INK YET… ( kidding )

I said I have a car full of perishable groceries in my car and

I’m one block from home..

So our nice officer said

I’m gonna let you go home and put

your groceries in refridgerator.

and I will come down there in a few minutes and finish getting all

the information..

So I get in my pitiful car and it won’t start…

the guy who hit me said pop your trunk.. and I popped !!

nothing !!

so they hook jumper cables to my car and it started right up .. and

I headed home.. and happy to be there !!

So just in a few minutes, they both came down to my house and we sat out in the patio furniture and he finished his report.

of the cars.

So I am now in the process of

getting the insurance settled and have in the meantime go my car sold as soon as the slow wheels of

the powers that be…. get started !!

I WILL BE LIVING WITH MY DAUGHTER.

THEY HAVE A WALK-IN BASEMENT APPARTMENT.

tHEY ARE WORKING ON IT AS WE SPEAK,

PUTTING IN NEW CUPBOARDS, NEW FLOOR

AND CARPET AND A NEW HEATING SYSTEM.

ALSO NEW BATHROOM STOOL AND

HERE’S A FLASH !!

I HAVE HAD JUST SCADS AND SCADS OF FABRIC…

Too much for any one human to own, and always buying more..

I had 13 plastic totes full of sorted

colors in the closet on shelf.

Plus other newer fabric I big boxes.

so late this afternoon, a friend that I hadn’t see in long time, dropped .She had seen where I was moving and wanted to know what I had for sale..

well almost everything was sold.

I had a small round table that I used in the corner of kitchen where I had all my displays of primitive stuff.

so she bought that and “what else ?”

well I have tons of fabric.

“I quilt,” she says and so into my cluttered moving stuff we went.

Fortunately I’m neat with my fabric so I had it color co-ordinated in plastic tote boxes.

I started dragging them down and saying “ this box is blues, this one is burgundy’s . and this one is greens… on and on till I have 12 boxes out on able and she looks in the closet and said “ there’s one more.”

Oh yes, and this one is americana colors”.

OK, SHE SAYS

“I’LL TAKE ‘EM ALL “

“WHAT ??”

“YEP, I’LL TAKE ‘EM ALL”

Some time ago a long-time friend

and I were chatting on IM about out unfinished dolls, in all stages of parts and pieces !

So we came up with this brilliant idea of having a sewing war .

This was supposed to motivate us to get busy and put the finishing touches to alllllll the tote after tote of unfinished dolls .

Well, you know Maurine grabs this idea and runs with it.. but soon Maurine got tired of running… and she slowly starts dragging her heels and before you know it…. she stops !!

Ya’ get the idea , don’t cha ??

Well , we finally put a time limit on this brilliant idea and came up with a deadline…….

which, by the way….. is TODAY!!!

is anyone having problems with GOOGLE? I HAVE been having such problems with all my passwords !!

I just can’t believe all the nonsense with my passwords !!

Tell me it’s Google and not Maurine… I am at my wits end !!

I have tired every password that I have ever used… finally , finally got one that I

had used before and … this time it worked.. but wait… it hasn’t posted yet..

OH I FORGOT TO TELL YA’ THE LATEST DILEMMA DOWN IN THE KOUNTRY !!!!

OH MY MERCY ME !!

YOU JUST AIN’T GONNA BELIEVE THIS ONE !!

One day while my girls were here visiting

we started to Wally’s to get some “ hair stuff”

and what do ya’ think??

My air conditioner went out in my car..

the girls kept turning the air up more and it kept getting hotter in the car.

They said “ are you all getting hot ??

so they started holdin their hand s over the vents

woooh ! this is hot air comin ‘ out!!

OH NO… THIS CAN’T HAPPEN TO ME !!

So we suffer on rest of way to Kennett and I go back to the automotive and

ask if they can check my air conditioner..

Sorry Maam! We don’t service air conditioners…

Ain’t that just the pits ?????

So we roll all the windows down and head back 16 miles home.

My mechanic was closed when we get back.. RATS !!

Next morning early, I call my mechanic and told him my problem

and he sent someone down to get my car and check it out.

Shortly after, the guy brings it back, hands me my keys and

say” He ordered you a switch” and walks away.

Great !! now I’m gonna have to wait for that to come in.

Well we drove my daughters car the rest of the time they were here and

on Monday after all had left…. I had to go to the post office

to mail a package and so I get in the Hot car and roll the windows down again.

came home , parked car under hot metal carport

no driving Tuesday

Wednesday I go to post office and then to Library

and back home under hot carport..

I’m prayin’ for rain… so I can park my car out in the rain…. no rain !!

ok didn’t get in that car until Saturday morning and I’m thinkin’

“ what’s wrong here, that switch should be here by now..

I could’ve walked there and got it before now !!!

In case you haven’t already figured it out…Maurine is impatient…no kiddin’

so I huff and puff up to the station and get out

“no I don’t want any gas, I want to talk to Monte’

so Monte’ says’’ aint’ you got no air” I said “No , you haven’t called me that the switch

has come in… and he said’’’ Awww Maurine, I wired that up to pass the switch so

you’d have air til the switch comes in””

He gets in my car, starts the motor and turns on air…. and wa-laa

AIR !!

He said “ didn’t that guy tell you what I had done ??”

I said” NO…. HE HANDED ME THE KEYS AND SAID YOU ORDERED A SWITCH” AND LEFT.

He said “ I’ll be danged” I told him to tell you that you had air”

Disgusted… but cool….

I go home.. mad , you know it…but cool !!

Since she is a pioneer prairie lady, she has no face

Miss Judy measures 17 inches.

Now Miss Judy is for sale if you just can’t live without her.

She’d love to come set on your table or even on a shelf

She ain’t perticular where she sits, just so she’s loved.

I have a new doll body finished and ready to get dressed !!

today I chose some fabrics for new clothes’

and made up a pot of “goop”

and put ‘em in it and gooped ‘em up real good

since it was a hotter that blue blazes day

I took out my little wooden clothes dryer

and hung ‘m out to dry..

didn’t take no time out in that hot Missouri sun

and they are allllll dry and ready for cuttin out new clothes

fer them dollies..

Tomorrow that sewing machine is gonna start hummin’ again…

“FUN FAMILY WEEK”

Even tho it was a scorching hot week, we certainly enjoyed it with family.

My one daughter drove down from Dowagiac, Michigan on Monday Morning.

Then she and my sister drove to Memphis, Tn. to meet other daughter that flew in from Atlanta, Georgia.

Oh, did we have an enjoyable week together.

We opened up the beauty shop and had haircuts, hair dyeing and then highlighting.

Lots of laughs and picture taking.

Then they went shopping and out to lunch but I pooped out on them..

One day they shampooed carpet and cleaned kitchen.

Oh, we had the most fun together.

This was supposed to be a three layer cake

but since I didn’t have any layer pans, it turned out

to be a one layer cake.. yummy !!

[as you can see on the stove, we had left-over good old southern breakfast ]

On Friday afternoon, Deb’s hubby ( John) and daughter ( Hannah) drove down

to pick up Deb for return to Atlanta.

They are from Australia and are nocturnal… sleep during day and stay awake at night.

They are so cute and are great as pets.

After playing with “ Bunny” all morning

we had a big family dinner at my sisters .. she’s a fantastic cook..

This is just the place settings and part of the dinner.

Oh, did we ever have a feast..

After

that big feast, we went home and ate ice-cold watermelon….yummy !!

Then they all packed up and left for home… both at the same time..

then I lay down on couch and took a long nap !!

BEEPING WOKE ME UP AT 2:00 A.M. THIS MORNING.

Thought it was the smoke alarm batteries low so I got up and touched the one in my

bedroom……beep beep

so I take the batteries out and still.. beep…beep…

So I get a screwdriver and prized it off the ceiling.. beep..beep..

AWWW !! my gosh !! What is this !!

go to the one in the hall by bathroom and took batteries

out of that one…. beep… beep !!

OH!! You’re gonna’ get it!!

Got my screwdriver and prized it off the ceiling..

take it to the laundry room and tried to pry all the little

circuit boards off…..beep…beep…beep !!

what’s with you !!!?? now, I’m gettin ‘ mad… I mean mad !!

so I take it into the craft room and get my hammer…

laid it on the floor and

WHAM! WHAM !! BAM !! ….BEEP ! BEEP BEEP !!

OPEN THE BACK DOOR AND SLING IT OUT IN THE YARD !!

Beep ! Beep ! Beep!!!

beep…beep…..beep !!

NOW WHAT THE HECK !!

That’s three smoke detectors… that’s all there is in here !!!

unless there’s one up in the attic…..can’t be !!

well, I can’t handle this all night…so I go to the bedroom

and pull down the ladder…and look up there… black as night..

I ain’t climbin’ up there…..

what to do?? I ain’t waking up my neighbors at 2:00 in the morning !!

so I get the phone book and call uptown to the night police ……

ring, ring , ring…then it switches to the Kennett station..

Hello !! so I tell her I’m trying to get the H’ville police station.

She ask my address and said she would call them on their radio.

She said “ ok hon, they will be there in a few minutes…

Oh dear… here I am in my nighties and hair looks like a birdnest.

so I quick hurry to closet and grab first pair of capri’s and t-shirt

I can find… run the comb through my hair and …

here they are.. pullin in the drive way..

I go unlock the door and let the nice man in..

I embarrassingly tell him my story…and ask

do you smell any smoke ? No mam , I don’t smell any smoke..

so we go in the bedroom where I had pulled down the ladder..

No, I don’t smell any smoke.

so we go back into the living room and standing near the tv

and Beep !! Beep ! Beep !!

and we both look toward the tv and he says about the same time

I did… oh could it be the carbon monoxide detector ??

So I pick it up and about the time…

beep…beep…beep..

Yep ! that’s it !!

Well as he turns to leave , I’m appologizing to him

and he says “ no problem. Mam “

I was up and on the job already !!

so as he leaves, I lock up again and head back to bed…

tossing and turning and can’t get back to sleep and all of a sudden

I’m thinkin’ about me in the craft room beatin’ the heck out of that

poor smoke detector … when

all of a sudden I start laughing and laughing.

well that’s my story … and I’m stickin’ to it !!

WHAT’S IN YOUR BASKET ???

I received my basket from Basketpam and I love it so much.. Here’s how it looked when I got it.

and I looked and looked for what I wanted to put in it.. Finally I decided on some of my small dolls..

and now this is what it looks like now..

Wow !! what do ya’ think !! If you have never seen Pam’s baskets, you gotta take a look.. She does fantastic work.

I’m gonna make some new dolls … well not next week… cause my two daughters and one granddaughter are coming for a weeks visit.. I can’t wait… haven’t seen them in long time and ya’ know Mamma’s get lonely for their kids..

Don’t think I’ve told you about getting the sweetest thing from Karen M. She let me borrow some of her Amish books and she mailed them to me and boy ! have I been readin and enjoying them..

Finished them yesterday and gotta get a bubble envelope and send them home to her with so many thanks.

Probably better put a little “ thank-you” gift in the package. Oh my!! did I ever enjoy reading them.. My favorite reads are Amish books…

Did I tell you that I joined “PRIM-NEST” and now have four items on and change every two weeks.

So just type in “ prim nest” and scroll till you find “ Kotton Kountry Kreations” and if ya got extra money, ya can buy a couple if ya wanta !!! Maurine will appreciate it lots and lots…

LOOK WHAT I GOT IN THE MAIL !!!

hey !! lookee what was waiting for me at the post office yesterday.

oh, my goodness !! when I saw who it was from… I couldn’t wait to get home to tear into it..

well I tell you, Dot must have spent a fortune on Bubble wrap , I may have to reimburse her for that.. I tell you it took sharp scissors and all my strength to get to these beauties

oh SQUEEL !!!!!

YEP..I let out one of them “ picket”

squeels.. got it down pretty good , to !!

Ya know.. I had to clean off cabinet tops and rearrange baking dishes till nearly midnight trying to find just the right space for the jars. still contemplating as to what to put in them… oh..could it be colored macroni or beans or ….oh,

it’s gotta be just the right thing.. ya just don’t put any ole thing in a beautiful jar like these.. and the chicken dish towels… oh my goodness. last night when I finally went to bed,,, in my imagination, I made curtains out of ‘em and then I remember that I had bought blanket/towel rack from Carol at “Firecrackers “ and im thinkin’ I’ll find me a space in the kitchen to hang that and display my precious “ chicken dish towels”

Oh, Dot you just made my day or maybe two or three days before I get them all just right … and then if that’s not just the bestest…… she threw in a set of measuring spoons… Well, that is just the sweetest surprise I’ve had in a long time… Bless you, Dot !!!

I’m still goin’ around sayin’ “ I just don’t believe this…. but it’s true…

So you’ll have to wait till I get them all in just the right place.

then we’ll have a “ show-‘n-tell day.

A DAY OF REST AND NO SEWING

This started out as a sewing week and then the bottom fell out.

Major computer problems and on a brand new Dell…. virus, and they took over controls on two different days and totally worked it over.. now the only thing wrong is the side by side pages and I cant cancel them out… oh well…as I told Helen, It’ll all come out in the wash…good advice to her but it don’t set too well when it’s coming back to me.

The sewing war is at a standstill but it will pick up again as soon as Helen gets her computer going again. From the way she described the problems I’m almost positive she has the same virus I had… No fun at all !!

But we won’t give up.. we’ll both be back waring again soon. You can’t keep two old southern gals down..

I have so many new patterns and even tho I have tons of fabric, I had to have Helen go to Birmingham to pick me up a couple yards of homespun.. LOL

Got this Jackie Schmidt pattern I want to make and needed brown/tan homespun for the dress.

Here’s my latest doll

ain’t she the cutest little prairie gal? she’s a Maureen Mills pattern and there’s another version of it but it requires a wooden block with holes drilled in it.. Gotta have someone make that for me.

Boy did we have some kind of a storm yesterday afternoon and a strong sand storm blowing but then it started raining and hard rain too. so finally everything settled down.

computer problems puts damper on war

now this is getting old

and I do mean old !!

Day Two of computer problems

then if that’s not bad enough

Helen calls me tadau really in a huff!!

Her computer is on the fritz.,too.

can’t get on line.

So the war is on hold !!

I , being the consoling friend that I am, I told her “it would all come out in the wash”

She’s having computer withdrawals.

Now if that ain’t the pitts after a tornado wipes out part of your home and two vehicles

It’s time for some good news and have I got it, sho’ nuff ~

YA know, I had such good intentions of makin’ all these new patterns, I been a getting in.

but it’s a standstill now..

But ya’ know… one bright light in all this gloom of computers

I won a giveaway from

and she’s sent it and I’m gonna be at the post office next week just a panting at the window.

so I’ll have a big smile on my face and come flyin’ home to see what’s in my sweet giveaway package..

DAY 4 OF THE SEWING WAR

I’m about ready to pack my bags and head for my log cabin in the backwoods…. and what’s more…

I ain’t takin’ this dang computer.

Hey, I’ve about had it with this contraption

Me and this little guy from Dell

spent four hours ( yes I said 4 )

today talkin’ about the woes of

VIRUS CONTAMINATION

waaaaaah !! my beautiful new computer got this deadly virus and it was really sick…

Ater four hours and $239.00

we are finally better..

but ya’ know what !! I’m afraid to click on anything now..

My great gift of 4 years of McAffee virus protection didn’t protect me from this dirty bug.

oh well, on to bigger and better things.

The war is lagging. I haven’t been near the sewing machine in two days.

So if Miss Helen has done anything , she’s way ahead of me.

But I’ve not given up… no siree..

I got me some big plans for next week.. you betcha’

DAY 4 OF THE SEWING WAR

OH ME, OH MY !!

I’m declaring a truce for today.

I can’t sew and fill in my forms for

“PRIM NEST

so I’m calling a truce for just today.

If I get my forms filled in and sent in, then I’ll be ready for the war soon.

Don’t give up on me tho’. cause I ainn’t no quiter..

Don’t think I sat down at the sewing machine at all today.

But never fear,, I’m still in the race..

Yeah, I’m joining “PrimNest” so you can be lookin for my work there, if’n I can figure out how to keep the pages of the form from turning dark when I put my cursor down to type..

well, I’ve sent so many S.O.S’s to Kelle, we’re on a first name basis now. They’ll know Maurine there if I ever get it finished.

I jest have to be into something that I don’t know a dang thang about, but it keeps the little grey cells active.

~ DAY 3 OF THE SEWING WAR~

yawn ~yawn

yeah it’s Day 3 of the sewing war between Miss Helen and Maurine.

This was a fun thing we started several year ago… we kept it up for a few years and finally dropped it by the wayside.

so last week we were on Instant Messenger just chattin’ and I said” what can we get ourselves into now?” and at the same time we both typed …. “ A sewing war” and we laughed and it started all over again.We would do that often when we would type the same thing at the same time….and we’d say

“ great minds think alike” .. oh we’ve had some good times together.

Would you believe we met on internet when she ordered some dolls from me for her shoppe.

Before I shipped them to her, we had chatted on the phone.. and one thing led to another until she began to tell me that they were gonna drop in us unexpectedly for a visit.

I began to wrack my brain as to how I could get out of that.. LOL

At one time I told her they couldn’t come cause my doctor had quaranteened me and I was house-bound and could have no visitors..LOL

Do you think she believed me… NO !!

And eventually I said “ok you can come after my daughters visit and go home.”. so she began to plan this..and one day they drove up in my driveway.. they drove past the house very slow looking toward the house… about the third trip past, I told my husband… this is too weird, someone is looking for us.. so I bravely go out on the driveway and waited until they come by and I said” Oh my gosh !! it’s Helen and Terry and sure enough it was ‘’… come bearing gifts!!LOL

But we had the greatest time, My husband and Terry hit it off like brothers so that left Helen and me to head to the craft room to look at dolls, patterns, soon we were printing off things for her..

Next morning bright and early we had a good old southern breakfast,

( the works… you bet… bacon,eggs, gravy , hot biscuits, jelly, butter, and lots of hot coffee.)

Then we hit the road for flea markets, antique stores, and when we began to get kinda tired, we headed for”GUY’S” a family restaurant for another big feast..

Then we hit some more flea markets and later headed home but on the way we stopped into

PIZZA HUT” and came out with two big pizzas .

But I gotta tell this one… the very first antique place we stopped in, just as Helen went through the door, she let out a scream…… “ OH, I GOTTA HAVE THAT RED COOKIE JAR”

and grabbed that jar and hugged it to her breast…. she had the clerk hold it for her as we did some browsing….” NOW , DON’T SELL THAT TO ANYONE ELSE” she warned that clerk…

oh it was a fun day…

So that’s the true story of how we met. Still friends after several years.. They came to my husbands funeral and we hugged and cried together..

We feel like family now.

well Day 3 was not all that productive but I did finish my doll but she’s hanging upside down on a clothes hanger drying after her grunging..

Tomorrow…. well, who knows !!

Yeah, it’s dau 2 of the war and I’m a tad ahead, but you have to watch those tortoises… they are some kind of sneaky… you can’t sit down under a shade tree for a nap or they’ll zip right past ya’.

Here’s my progress so far

all she needs is her bonnet… got it all cut out.. and gathered.. just gotta sew the brim on… piece o’cake!!!

might even try the other version of the little sweetie… that is … if I can find a nice neighbor to cut me a square stand and drill the leg holes in it for me.. now that ain’t gonna be a piece o’ cake..

well it’s beddy time for old people so it’s off to dream-land .

‘What a night and day… oh dear, I puttered around most of the day doing some of this ‘n that and suddenly realized I had no milk or half ‘n half for my morning coffee.. had it black this morning… yuck !!

So I called my sister at the library to let her know I was gonna run to the store about 7 miles away ….got my shoes one( course I’m barefoot ..I’m a country gal ) got in my car and started out.

Just got started and what’s that on my windshield…. not raindrops… yeoh it is !!

Well I’ll hurry, I say to myself …so foot on gas petal and here I go..

Well it was not bad going over.. got there and hurriedly bought $85.00 worth of veggies, fruit and milk..

As I was signing my credit card a friendly lady standing by said “ we have to sign everythihg, don’t we?

I said “ yeah, sign your life away buying groceries “ so we chatted a minute or two and the nice girl carries my groceries out to the car and

WOAH !!

WHAT IS THAT I HEAR… RIGHT, THUNDER AND THE SKY IT BLACK AS NIGHT…

WHERE THE HECK IS IT ?

DID YOU EVER LOSE SOMETHING AND WHILE LOOKING FOR IT, FOUND SOMETHING you HAD LOST BEFORE ??.
I bought a picture gadget last year and didn’t use it right away and now that I have this new computer, I want to use it to put some old black and white pics from years ago on my computer..(since it will hold just jillions of pictures..)
well, now I’ve lost it in this jungle of a crafty room.. I know, I know, organize… I do but I’m not an oraganized organizer… makes sense to me.
well while looking for the picture “thingy”I ran across an old “ mouse” for my oldeer computer.
Had an extra cordless mouse and got a new one with this new computer, so being the generous, kind soul that I am, I gave the old one to my neighbor. He was so excited and I had this “ warm and fuzzy” feeling inside but now I can’t find the other mouse that I found while looking for the “pic thingy and being the kind and generous soul that I am, I can’t ask my neighbor for that one back.. It just ain’t neighborly to do that.. Besides, I do’t want to lose my “ warm and fuzzy feeling.
.I know, it’s confusing. well, now I got to looking for the mouse and got side-tracked organizing all my patterns. Now that can really get you going in circles..
See, I’m a “pattern-aholic”and I’m trying to get patterns from the same person all in one place.
Oh, honey !! what was it I started hunting for a couple days ago when I found the mouse? Now if I can remember that , I might know
where I was and maybe find something else I’ve lost… oh the woes of a frustrated crafter.
That ain’t the worst of it all…
some time ago, I bought this gadget from qvc.. oh yeah, I’m a gadget person..
well this was to back up your hard drive and so I did before I bought the new computer… but when I started to download it onto my new computer….
RATS…RATS…. RATS…
the dang thang didn’t do the restore they told me it would… oh yeah… it was supposed to do wonders…. yeah, I wonder why the heck I thought it really would…
this just ain’t my day… or week…. but you know my motto:

kick the dang thang and go do something else…

I tell you, I had a new cleaning lady today

and she wore me out working.

She is a " working wonder"

and I can't cook any more cause

I can't get my stove or refrigerator dirty.

Guess I'll have to eat out or go visit my

sister... she cooks.

But I sho' nuff got a clean house.

so had to look for something different.

fabric and an old antique wooden button with a fastener made of same fabric.

Been a while since I checked in with some news from down in the Kountry.

Got a new black prim doll.
She's a wide one cause she tells ya' right off that she loves that good ole southern fried chicken.. and she makes no excuse fer her extra middle.
But she does wear a gause
middy-waist band.

We got a couple new kinda

prairie dolls but can't show no pictures yet, cause they are
for a customer.. waitin' for an order of skeleton keys for their necklaces..
Maybe I'll make some extra

Did ya' ever start lookin' for something and wind up cleanin' out your sewing room?
          Whew !! eeee !!
I tell you.. I threw out so much junk that I didn't even know I had..
I found six, (yes 6) naked babies that I had forgot.. See, when my daughters come for a visit, I have to hide junk so we can use my cutting table to eat off of.. LOL
Well it's my sewing room until my family comes for a visit.. then " waaa-laaa "
it's a dining room.. you all
got one of them rooms ??
When it's just me... it's my sewing , computer , music room.. .. I call it my
     " HAPPY PLACE"

Hey !! I just found out something this week.. I can play my DVD"s in my computer... so I can sew and listen and look when I want to.
I collect Southern Gospel DVD's..
GAITHER VOCAL BAND
is my favorite Gospel group..
If you've never heard
David Phelps belt out a
good old gospel song... you
ain't lived ...

Man, I can sew and sing and shout if I want to... nobody here but me and the Lord !!
