HAITI EARTHQUAKE RELIEF

I was just reading our local newspaper where my orthopedic surgeon , Dr. Ed Landry is part of the Jimani  Project providing much needed medical service to the people of Haiti following the earthquake there.

He sends news to his family and friends back in Kennett, Mo. and has allowed our local newspaper there to share his accounts of work taking place there.

I  knew first hand that  Dr. Landry was a special, caring physician and now I have much more respect for him as a humanitarian and skilled surgeon.

He shares such heart wrenching stories of the many patients they operate on under the crudest conditions.

No Xray machines and yet they perform  delicate surgeries and the patients are so grateful, not complaining and just thankful to have the much needed care.

He tells of the "Jimani red" eyes of tears from grown, professional men who are there doing their best in a bad situation.

He told of one young surgeon he met just coming in that was so arrogant that the nurses told Dr. Landry that they wouldn't work with him.. But the next day, he was weeping with the "Jimani Red eyes" with the rest of them and asking for advice as to how he could help.. Which Dr. Landry suspects he had never done before..

He reports that some of the stories he is seeing first hand are just too terrible to put in writing..

So after reading these words from someone I know, I feel so much compassion for the Haitian people and I pray for more dedicated surgeons, nurses and professional people to feel the need to help.

This has not been a crafty post, but I was so

moved by his account that I felt compelled to share.

I know everyone has been watching on tv and reading about this disaster, but coming from someone that you know personally and they are there helping

it  is so touching..

My prayers are with the people ,both the suffering and the "helping hands" whom God has called "along-side" to help .

We are to be so thankful for our safety thus far..
