MY ANTIQUE SHAWNEE DISHES

Today for " Show-n-Tell" I want to show off my antique Shawnee Dishes. I won't tell you how many years I've had them for that would be "dating" me but I will tell you they are genuine antiques . I don't know how many refrigerators we have gone through with them sitting on top.

Years ago I saw the casserole dish in a store window and fell in love with it and soon after my husband surprised me with it as a "just because" gift.. Oh, how thrilled I was and have treasured it ever since.. As time went by, I found the matching pieces and have added to what you see here.

My daughter had an antique shoppe for years and I have seen these in their antique magazines for a sum of money... but these are not for sale... at any price !!

My husband is deceased now but every time I look at these dishes, I remember the day he gave them to me and it brings back "precious memories" .

He later gave me an apple range set, which is now an antique also. It has the large apple for drippings and a salt and pepper matching set..

At some future "show -n-tell" I will tell about them and their history.

Since you have read my blog ,please go to:

to see all the other "precious memories".

Blessings,

Maurine

DISASTER ABOUT TO HAPPEN

OH !! MERCY ME, MAURINE !! WHAT WILL YOU TRY NEXT !!!!
Well, I read in my printer manual where I could print on fabric.. uh-huh !!
but the manual didn't prepare me for the unfolding dilema about to happen.
You see how easy this looks ?? sure it is .... if you're using a wringer washer... not so with a printer !! Now the story goes like this.... I went into my printer and printed off just how to do this simple task of printing on fabric.. you see, I had this pattern that called for a feed sack print on a bag for a doll... ok... I'm reading and ... what the heck is bubble jet set???? well, I don't have any so... I think it'll work with just skipping that little step and go to ironing fabric onto shiney side of freezer paper.. that went well.. trim off all the little strings so it's nice and straight.. ironed real good... WHAT !!! don't use steam...well I can't get all the wrinkles out so I'll just use a teeny bit of steam.. and then I'll blow dry it dry and ... on with the project !!

This looks and feels dry enough .. soooo turn on the printer ..take out all the paper.... be sure you put it in the right way for the print to be on the FABRIC.,Maurine, not the paper. OK got that straight... into the printer... do I dare press copy ?? Sure, you can do this, you know you can.. the manual says it works so here goes...
GRRRRR !! GRRRRRRR !! I don't see the paper coming out.. where can it be ??
OOOOOOOOOOHHHHH NOOOOO !!! What do I do now???
Cancel print.....Turn it off, Dummy !! Ohhh mercy me !!

I lift the lid... and I see a teeny -weeny corner of muslin peeking from behind the ink cartridges.. maybe , just maybe if I hold my mouth right, it'll come on out.. GRRRRR !! GRRRR !!

Well now you've made a mess.. and it's brand new, too..
so I take the ink cartridges out and turn it off ..I learned that earlier when the cartridges were still in and I stuck my hand in there and WHACK !!! carridge returns and got me good.

So I try it again...without the cartridges.. and Glory Be !! I touched a piece of something... is it white.. or tan??? Quick,, get me the needle nose pliers... hurry before I lose this !!

Oh dear me , don't let me break my new printer..if I get this out, I won't never , never do such a stupid trick as this again.. never !!

So I get a bear grip and pull inch by inch and FINALLY..it starts to move slowly.. OH Glory Be !! Its' out !!

Look what a crumpled up mess of freezer paper and muslin !!

My poor red knuckles.. but my printer is fabric-free... let me turn it on and see if it's hurt.... buzzzz buzzzz print .. print !!

Oh ! thank you, printer protector!!

well, maybe if I'd used that " bubble goop" it might have worked..hmmmmm !! Ya ' think???

~~Just another day in the life of an adventurer ~~

BLUE MONDAY FIRST

MY FIRST "BLUE MONDAY"

While living in Michigan, my two daughters and I went shopping at the neatest craft house in Kalamazoo, Mi.

That was my first introduction to the magazine " COUNTRY SAMPLER" and I bought a copy.. OOH MY !!! I was hooked on craft ideas and soon started making bunnies, bears, dolls and from there I have never stopped. I totally devoured that magazine and have it to this day..

That was also when I got my first piece of blue spatterware.

This peice is a large bowl that my daughter, Janette bought for me. Since then I have collected a large collection of blue spatterware.
At that time my kitchen was wallpapered in a light blue with tiny mauve design.. those were the "in" colors .
Since then I have gone to greens and have given lots of my blue spatterware to my daughter who has an antique shoppe in Dowagiac, Michigan.

This is my first post to "BLUE MONDAY" so I hope I get everything right.

Happy Blue Monday

SURPRISE !! SURPRISE !! SURPRISE !!

Went to the post office and had this little yellow card in my box that said "You have a package too large for your box"
What can that be? I knew I had an order out for some business cards... but business cards can't be too large for my box.. can they !!!
I take my little yellow card up to the window and she brings me a long package and I see that it's from KATH so I quick go home, grab my scissors and go to work on this package.. I'm impatient when I have a package... tear the paper off and to my amazement .. there is just what I have been wanting..
A beautiful sign that reads"BED & BREAKFAST".
OH !! My mouth drops open and I just stand there with tears in my eyes .. thinking .. is this really for me ???
Then while still in awe, I start snatching things off my kitchen wall to make the special place to display this precious gift from my newfound Blogger friend , KATHY BOSKO
well, I found the perfect spot and hung it . All I could do was stand back in amazement that someone would give me such a perfect gift.. She could not have known that I was looking for a sign to go on my kitchen wall.. but it was the highlight of my day... or should I say many days !!
To my special friend , Kath, I say
THANK YOU , THANK YOU , THANK YOU !!
I LOVE IT!
and every time I look at it I will be reminded just how special you are..
Blessings to you !!
